All NCQMA Members,
Due to concerns about safety and health issues related to Tire Treatment Chemicals, we as a club are going to seriously address this issue in 2007.
The World Karting Association has been working with a new piece of equipment that detects any chemicals that have been applied to a race tire. They have been using this tool for a year and it has been proven to be an effective way to eliminate the use of tire treatment chemicals and the health issues that these chemicals can cause.
Our Club has received approval from QMA to implement a “No Tire Treatment Policy” and NCQMA will be the test track for all of QMA to document our procedures and policies concerning the Tire Treatment Testing methods. This new policy would be in effect for all of NCQMA’s 2007 races, including the QMA Region 3 States Race and the Region 3 Dixie Cup Series events.
The NCQMA Board received the approval to purchase the new Tire Treatment detector tool and we will be communicating much more to address everyone’s concerns about this issue in the very near future.
Here’s some preliminary information that you need to know:
Any tire that has tire treatments applied to it will not be allowed at NCQMA in 2007.
We are currently working on the NCQMA tire testing procedures and policies and will have more information available at our 1st Club Meeting that will be scheduled in February.
In preparation for the 2007 season, please do not start to mount any new tires on rims using any chemicals like Simple Green, Soap, Tire Lube, etc. until we know which of these will not effect the readings on this new tool.
We understand that everyone will have many questions concerning this new policy and we will address all questions as we move forward with this process and we start working with this new tool.
QMA is also looking to purchase this same tool and we will be in close communication with them as their goal is the same as ours – keeping our members and children safe and healthy.
We are very excited that we have been approved to be the model for all of QMA and we ask that you work with the NCQMA officials in 2007 to make this new policy a great success and a benefit to all members.
Thank you,
NCQMA Board of Directors
