NCQMA Hosts Fan Appreciation Day for Charity

Salisbury, NC - The North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) hosted it’s first ever Fan Appreciation Day for Charity on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 benefiting the Rowan County United Way. The event was headlined with appearances by Bobby Labonte – NCQMA’s founder, Jeff Burton and Dave Blaney along with raffles and exhibition races by NCQMA quarter midget drivers.

NCQMA is home to quarter midget racing for kids on a weekly basis but this event catered to racing fans from as far as California, Michigan, Indiana, Ontario and as close as Salisbury, North Carolina. There was a lot to offer the attending fans. Raffle tables included condo passes and race tickets for the Lowes Motor Speedway October race, autographed sheet metal from NASCAR teams, lots of racing memorabilia and a quarter midget race car owned by Bobby Labonte and driven by Tyler Labonte.

Also on hand were three show cars including Bobby Labonte’s #43 and a USAC Ford Focus Midget. In addition to the show cars NCQMA was fortunate to have Bradley Riethmeyer in attendance, a competitor in the Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series.

Throughout the event the regular NCQMA Speedway quarter midget competitors continuously put on exhibition races for all to see. The racing consisted of Junior and Senior classes and three different levels of quarter midget racing ranging from the slower, younger Jr. Honda class to the faster, more experienced Lt. 160 class. Making the racing more enjoyable for all who attended was Austin Petty, son of Kyle Petty, who reigned as MC providing humor, energy and fun interviews with many NCQMA drivers.

Most importantly the Fan Appreciation Day for Charity directly benefited the Rowan County United Way. On hand were several representatives from the United Way all of whom enjoyed the day with NCQMA. NCQMA since its inception has been very proud to call Rowan County its home, and continuously strives to support Rowan County, its economy and citizens. NCQMA is proud to have teamed up with the Rowan County United Way donating all proceeds back to the community.

NCQMA members along with Bobby Labonte Enterprises proudly hosted the event, and at the end of the evening each NCQMA driver presented Bobby, Jeff and Dave with a thank you card signed by all. NCQMA looks forward to organizing more fan appreciation days and charity events in the future. You can keep ‘track’ of our schedule and events anytime by visiting www.ncqma.com. Many thanks to everyone who came to NCQMA Speedway and supported this event!
